    LESSON 01

    WHAT IS SALVATION?

The Bible consists of the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament was written before Christ was born. The New Testament tells about the coming of Christ and what He has done for us. For this Bible chapter, all that you will need is the New Testament for right now. We will be studying in the Gospel of John, which is the fourth book of the New Testament. When you see numbers at the end of each question like "3:16", it means the third chapter and the sixteenth verse. Do not be afraid to underscore verses in your Bible with a pen, or write references in the margin. Remember, we take the Bible literally, or just as it is. So, write your answers as you find them in the Bible. Salvation is being saved from the penalty of sin into new life in Jesus Christ. We will be in the book of John for several lessons.

    CONCLUSION:

Salvation is accepting Jesus Christ, God's sacrifice and substitute for our sins, as your personal Saviour. This is called "born-again" or the "new birth." Literally, when you accept Christ as Saviour, you pass from spiritual death to spiritual life. You were put "in Christ Jesus", by the Holy Spirit. Read John 1:12.
