"Up from the grave He arose, . . ."

A lot of people are superstitious. They will change their direction when a black cat crosses their path. They will throw salt over their left shoulder after accidentally spilling some on the table. They will not walk under a ladder nor step on a crack in the sidewalk. But they probably cannot tell you why they take such measures.

It will soon be the season to observe the death of Jesus Christ on "Good Friday" and His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Some skeptics will consider these observances to be superstitious exercises. They are sure that there is no basis for thinking that the death of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago has any effect upon us today. They are equally sure that the resurrection of Christ is an unbelievable myth and that those who believe in it are deluded.

While many religions of the world carry a lot of superstitious baggage, Christianity is different. It is based upon the revelation of God Himself. He had it recorded for us in His Word, the Bible.

The divine evidence for the resurrection of Christ is found in I Corinthians 15:3-8. Follow what Paul, the Apostle, says. ". . . Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas (Peter, the Apostle), then of the twelve (the disciples as a group): After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once: of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as one born out of due time." That is a pretty good amount of corroborating evidence, when God says that a truth may be established at the mouth of two or three witnesses!

Christianity is the only major religion I know of whose founder is alive. Men like Buddha, Mohamad, and Confucius are dead and their tombs are revered. Christ’s tomb was found to be empty when some women arrived to prepare the body (Mark 16:1-7). He later ascended into Heaven, returning to His Father (Acts 1:8-11). There He serves in a most important capacity.

Hebrews 7:24, 25 describes that service. "But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

Friend, is this living Savior your Savior? Have you received Him as the One who died for your sins? Is He interceding for you in Heaven today? If not, recognize your sin before Him. Trust Him alone for your forgiveness and receive Him as your Savior so that He may daily plead your case before God. That is the way of freedom from condemnation. That is the way of eternal life. Today is the day of salvation; tomorrow may be too late.
