Just suppose . . .
Remember when you were a kid and somebody would say, "Lets play like . . ."? The line could be finished with ". . .we are pirates" and ". . . this red wagon is our pirate ship." May I suggest that we pursue a similar idea. Just suppose . . .
Just suppose that Heaven is a real place, as the Bible says it is. It is being prepared for the redeemed, those who have been saved by grace, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:1-3). It is beautiful beyond description and peace and tranquility prevail. There is no sorrow nor crying, nor is there anything that defiles allowed to mar its blessedness (Revelation 21:1-22:5).
Just suppose that the only means of entrance is personal faith in Jesus Christ, Who is "the way" (John 14:6) and "the door" (John 10:1-7). Entrance cannot be earned by good works, by ritual, by sincerity, or any other man-centered effort. Heredity and family position play no part toward acceptability. Total reliance upon the finished work of Jesus Christ accomplished upon His cross when He died for sinners is the only possible way of access (Ephesians 2:8, 9).
Just suppose you miss it.
Just suppose that hell is a real place as the Bible says it is. It is being prepared for "the devil and his angels" and will be the eternal abode of all who reject Christ as Savior, either willfully or passively. It is a place of eternal conscious torment, "where the fire is not quenched and their worm dieth not." The vilest of the wicked will be your neighbors in torment, and there is no relief day or night (Revelation 20:10-15). Again, neither family heritage, possessions, social status nor name recognition will spare anyone that judgment.
Just suppose you go there.
Just suppose that this is Gods final wake-up call for you. He may be alerting you to the fact that you will spend eternity somewhere. Heaven and hell are the choices. And the choice is yours completely. Trust Christ and your home is Heaven. Reject Him and hell is your destiny. Does it not make sense to seriously consider this grave matter? Doesnt it make sense to choose Heaven? Doesnt it make sense to decide now while you are alive, conscious, in your right mind and free to do it? "My spirit will not always strive with man." "Today is the day of salvation. Harden not your heart."
Just suppose you will die today . . .
