Have you wondered why this writer cites the Bible as the authority for what is written? It is because the Bible is the final authority on any subject; it is God's Word on that subject, even when the Bible claims its own divine inspiration.
If you would protest that the Bible is the work of men, consider these observations. The Bible contains sixty-six books written in three languages by some forty writers from various countries of differing degrees of culture from different walks of life over a period of 1500 years in different forms of literature, yet in perfect harmony and agreement.
In contrast, just a few years ago it was stated in scientific journals that uranium was a worthless metal not found in the United States. Uranium was later found to be the heart of our atomic energy programs and that it was found in large quantities in the western U. S. Medical science literally bled George Washington to death by "blood letting" before they found out that "the life of the flesh is in the blood", as God said. And of course, Columbus flew into the face of the flat world theory to discover America. These kinds of theorists do not agree with their own kind for short durations, much less over 1500 years!
Much of the Bible is a recitation of what God said directly to the writers. Moses' Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) is filled with "Thus saith the Lord," "The Lord spake unto Moses, saying," "Go, and say unto this people," and other such marks of Divine speech. The Old Testament prophets used similar quotations from God in their pronouncements. The Gospel writers quote Jesus, the second Person of the Godhead, frequently and extensively. Paul's epistles are largely revelations of "mysteries" hidden in the past but revealed through Paul in God's time.
Finally, I have
often thought that if man authored the Bible, he surely did
himself no favors in the self-esteem department. He cites himself
as a sinner, unable to save himself, under the judgment of God
for doing what comes naturally, and otherwise wretched to the
extreme. It would take a gracious and merciful God to so identify
even the writers of His book as well as all other men, then turn
right around and say, "For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Yes, all men are sinners. All men need to be saved from sin's
consequence. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation.
God said so.
