Resolution on Homosexuality

Whereas, recent reports in the news media have declared that President-elect Clinton's advisors are urging him to move speedily on the ban against homosexuals in the military; and

Whereas, there is an increased emphasis on the acceptance of homosexuality as a matter of public policy by government and church officials; and

Whereas, the homosexual advocates have removed the issue from the realm of morality to that of civil rights, with many declaring the Bible does not even speak on the subject and others affirming the blasphemy that our Lord Jesus Christ Himself was a practicing homosexual;

Therefore be it resolved, that the Ohio Bible Fellowship proclaim that God in the Bible has spoken against homosexuality, declaring it to be an abomination (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13); uncleanness and vile affections (Romans 1:24-27); characteristic of those who are unable to inherit the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:9, 10); and a capital offense in the Old Testament (Leviticus 20:13); and

Be it further resolved, that we urge our pastors to teach the truth of God's Word on this subject from the pulpits of our churches, warning of God's judgment on those who openly defy the moral standards of the Creator as illustrated by the judgment of Sodom in Genesis 19; and

Be it further resolved, that the parents of our Fellowship do all we can to teach the truth of God's Word in our homes, to protect our children from the onslaught of teaching from the world about homosexuality, so they may know that what is acceptable to many is an abomination to God; and

Be it further resolved, that we pray to God for His mercy upon this nation because of this sin upon our land, and that we pray for true repentance on the part of those who are caught in this deadly sin; and

Be it further resolved, that we do all we can to stand against the current direction of public policy and moral relativity in our government and churches who are promoting the issue of homosexuality, and we do all we can to educate others about what the Bible teaches concerning homosexuality.
