Resolution on Our Christian Heritage
WHEREAS,
there is a concerted effort being made to eradicate
biblical Christianity from our nation's heritage and
history; and,
WHEREAS,
the effort has been tragically effective through the
public educational systems of our nation; and,
WHEREAS,
the liberal news media and the entertainment industry have
contributed to the effort on a consistent basis; and,
WHEREAS,
the founding documents of our nation speak to the point
that the founders desired to found a nation with strong
Christian foundations; and,
WHEREAS,
many statements of our founding fathers, both in the
aforementioned documents as well as in their personal
writings, indicate that many of them were not atheists,
agnostics or deists, but rather were Christians; and,
WHEREAS,
God has blessed this nation, thus founded, in a singular
way; and,
WHEREAS,
we have benefitted greatly from that blessing and desire
the continuation of that blessing for our future
generations; therefore,
BE
IT RESOLVED, that we, the members and delegates of the
Ohio Bible Fellowship, meeting in the Spring Conference,
April 12, 13, 2002, in Bible Community Church, Mentor,
Ohio, acknowledge our Christian heritage; and,
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we earnestly pray for our nation
and its leaders, especially the Christians in leadership
positions, both nationally and locally, as the Apostle
Paul exhorts us to do in I Timothy 2:1, 2 that, ". . .
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of
thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that
are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable
life in all godliness and honesty"; and,
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we regularly remind the people
of our congregations and in our Christian schools that we
have an awesome responsibility to defend and nourish the
ideals of our heritage, and to that end may we purpose to
bring our wills into conformity to the will of God as
revealed to us in His Word, the Bible, in order that
godliness and honesty might characterize our lives, our
churches and our nation.
